When buying jewelry, white gold is higher priced than yellow gold. So, why isn’t it worth more when selling it to be melted down into other jewelry? Why do these places that buy gold only look at the karet count of the gold, and not if it is white or yellow gold?

If I have a 24 kt gold necklace that weighs 2 ounces and today’s price for gold on the precious metals market is around $920/oz, what price range can I expect to get for my necklace by selling it to a reputable gold buyer in New York?

Hi- I am looking to sell some old gold jewelry that I no longer wear. It ranges from 10K to 14K and includes my high school class ring, name ring, charms, a chain, a navel ring etc. I weighed it on a scale and it comes to JUST over one ounce. I want to sell it to a “mom and pop” jewelry store in my town that buys gold. They usually ask “how much are you looking to get”. I have no idea what to expect, so what is a good price to look for?????
